Mahinda Wins
The final tally is out. Mahinda Rajapakse has beaten Ranil Wickramasinghe by 186,327 votes. A percentage of 50.33.

This makes him the fifth President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

Personally, any advocate I fear I will fear because I fear for the safety of my daughter and that she will be raped and extorted. I can live with that. If my daughter is going to be raped and extorted what am I supposed to do?

ranil was right to adapt the strategy he followed. he wanted peace, almost all voters in northeast as well as a slim majority in the south wanted war as shown by their votes or non votes. unp fielding a war candidate would not have helped.

I found that you were saying that Mahinda got 50.33% of all valid votes. But, check at this http://www.president2005.com/live for the correct percetages. it should be 50.29% for Mahinda.
