Where are the unidentified corpses from?
There's fear that the unidentified corpses that have been found in Avissawella and Mulleriyawa might be the bodies of Tamil youth taken in by the Army for questioning in Colombo. The Mulleriyawa body was only found today. There may be more. The Upcountry People's Front has gone to the extent of sending a letter to the President about it.

Do I think the Army did it? I don't know. Do I think they could have done it? Of course they're capable of it. They've done it before.

The timing of the appearence of the bodies is what is most intriguing. Just days after the explosion in Colombo, this could prove to be a potent warning. But it would be a warning not to thje LTTE, but to the Tamil people living in Colombo, or those who want to ever come to Colombo: You're not safe. We can hack you, chop your head off and dump your body and no one's going to say anything.

And if they were Tamil youth, were they LTTE members? Probably not. Any LTTE member who is captured by the military is bled for information. Military intelligence is stupid, but not so stupid as to kill potential informants. And if the Army had proven their terrorist status, then we'd have heard about it in the news. The military makes few successful arrests, when they do, they let it be known.

And even if they were LTTE members, do they deserve this? No. No one deserves to be hacked and decapitated and dumped. Particularly not for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But these questions can hardly be answered in a blog comments page.

I mean no one here is likely to have any real knowledge about the issue.

You could say the army or the Sinhalese could have done it as a warning, and someone else could say the LTTE or Tamils must have done it to get sympathy. Neither is going to convince the other person.

Does anyone have any real facts except the same old prejudices and baseless guesswork?

It is very difficult to come to a conclusion. The timing is of the most concern. Army is certainly capable of doing this and it could certainly be some isolated incident too. But one thing is clear. Tamils in and around the south of Sri Lanka are going to live in more panic and fear.

This is right up with all the other murders. Whoever did it had a specific reason, but we are not going to know exactly what because there are so many who will lose, and so many who will gain by pointing fingers.

Five more dead. Is it good? We can hope the answer is no, but unfortunately to some people this is just one more opportunity. To them it is a good thing because now they can confirm their hidden and not so hidden prejudices, biases and fears. Reason bedamned.

Man what a dead beat this Morquendi is.

It turns out the bodies aren't Tamil.

Let's see whether Morquendi cries his heart out for the Sinhalese who got killed here.

I think Morqs worse fear has been confirmed. The two bodies identified so far are Tamils who were arrested on the day of the bombings in Colombo by police. This is indeed shameful for GoSL. You can be assured no one will investigate this crime.
